GERB leader Boyko Borissov has waived his parliamentary immunity. His decision was taken after a discussion with the party's parliamentary group.

"I spoke with the parliamentary group, after all, I am Boyko Borisov, I will waive my immunity despite all the things so obviously done by the former chief prosecutor against me. I trust the Bulgarian court and the Bulgarian prosecutor's office. I will not be a victim of blackmail and extortion in order for some to impose their decisions". This was what the politician said in parliament.

Initially, Borissov refused to part with his parliamentary immunity. An investigation called "Barcelonagate" has been dragging on for 3 years against the former prime minister. He is being investigated over alleged money laundering by purchasing a house in Barcelona.
