Bulgarians in North Macedonia expect to be included in the constitution

30-40% of Macedonians agree to having Bulgarians included in the constitution of North Macedonia so as to guarantee their human and civil rights. That is a much higher percentage than expected, in view of the aggressive anti-Bulgarian campaign in the country,” Vladimir Perev from the tribuna.mk website in an interview with the BNR. Bulgaria is today paying the cost of its political silence on the Macedonian issue after 1934 and that was seen by Skopje as “licence for anti-Bulgarian actions with impunity”, the journalist says. The two peoples have not grown apart, they are even getting closer. The road to North Macedonia’s joining the EU is difficult and painful. Most of the politicians who call themselves ethnic Macedonians do not want European integration, they are maneuvering between Russia and the EU, Perev says.
