The Black Sea is one of the fastest warming seas in the world. By the end of the century, wind speeds in the region are expected to increase, rainfall is expected to increase and air pressure is expected to rise. The regions of Varna, Dobrich and Burgas are already recording higher rainfall amounts.

According to Bulgarian scientists, climate change in the Black Sea will lead to significant impacts on the ecosystem and biodiversity in the region.

According to climate projections for the Black Sea region in the 21st century, two scenarios are possible for the Black Sea - a pessimistic one and a realistic one. Especially dangerous is the pessimistic scenario, in which average seasonal temperatures will rise by more than 7 degrees in some places, says Dr. Lilia Bacheva of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology.
