Plovdiv Central Railway Station will host the popular bands X-R@Y and Wikeda for a free concert on September 14.

The public will also have the opportunity to see two folklore groups - Ravnets and Klimentina. This is the third event of the "Concerts at the Station" project, which is being carried out with the financial support of the National Culture Fund. The lead singer of X-R@Y, Veselin Kirev, told the Trezor show on the "Hristo Botev" programme:

"The idea was born spontaneously, although we had a similar experience 11 years ago, when the 125th anniversary of the Bulgarian Railways was celebrated. At that time the central station in Sofia became an improvised stage. I myself love travelling by train, and both my grandfathers were railwaymen."

The railway, one of the inventions of the industrial age that has profoundly changed our world over the last 200 years, has always provoked artists. According to many scholars, it is the primary inspiration for all modern world music from the 1920s to the present. Musicians such as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Queen, David Gilmore and many others have been inspired by trains and stations, but of course we will add the Bulgarian contribution with songs by Lili Ivanova, Vasil Naydenov, FSB, Faktor, BTR, Stefan Valdobrev, Kamen Donev and Maya Bezhanska, Stanley and last but not least Wikeda, who will be performing in Plovdiv on September 14.
