"The Key is G" unlocks memories of our childhood home

Photo: YouTube

We start the New Year with a heart-warming song – The Key is G, performed by one of Bulgaria's beloved pop singers, Margarita Hranova. The poet Djina Dundova was inspired to write her beautiful verses by an old house in the Balkans. She dedicated the poem to the composer Dimitar Getov, the author of the arrangement. His granddaughter Irma Zorzi made the video, presenting beautiful footage from her grandfather's personal archive. The music was written by Ivan Krastev, and the ringing voice of Margarita Hranova takes us back to our fondest memories - of our childhood home.

It is so warm and cozy in the house
My father built it – every single tile –
for us, to have a shelter and a home,
until we fly away, each our own way.
