In the mountains the weather is sunny and clear, conditions are suitable for tourism, the Bulgarian Red Cross’ mountain rescue service says, as quoted by the Bulgarian news agency BTA.

During the past 24 hours there have been no incidents involving tourists. Nevertheless, mountain rescuers caution tourists in the mountain resorts not to stray from the hiking routes and ski runs as conditions are icy in many areas. Hikers must use suitable shoes, and if they encounter impassable areas they should turn back or find a way to go around.

In the resort of Bansko, the snow cover is thickest at Todorka and Platoto where there is a light wind. In Borovets skiing conditions are good, and the snow cover is 150-160 cms. In Pamporovo the weather is clear and calm, the snow cover is 80 cms. On Mount Vitosha the weather is also sunny and calm.
