At a ceremony in the presence of President Rumen Radev, the Bulgarian flag was raised on a 21-meter pylon in the Zvezdata area near Etropole.
“Today, we all raise our voices that in a time of division for the world, we will stand united and with self-confidence we will deal with all the challenges of our time. I believe that from the height of its 21 meters, this flag will give us confidence, will watch over the land of Bulgaria, will make young people have the faith that they will build their worthy future precisely here, in the homeland,” the head of state said in his speech.
Mayor of Etropole Vladimir Alexandrov said that the initiative proved to be a difficult task. “My first official letter to the local authorities about raising the Bulgarian flag was in 2011. Today we can gather under the tricolor of Bulgaria and feel united,” he added.
MPs, representatives of the local authorities, the Orthodox Church and citizens were present at the ceremony.
