I have spoken many times with Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia Timčo Mucunski. He knows our position very well. His role is to convince his own government to abide by the 2022 consensus. This was what Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev said regarding the start of North Macedonia’s EU accession negotiations, BGNES has reported.

“In May this year, with 209 votes, the Bulgarian parliament adopted a resolution that obliges the government to adhere only to the 2022 consensus and nothing else. But so far we have not received a positive response from Skopje,” Georgiev told BNT. He pointed out that according to the European consensus, Bulgarians must be included in the North Macedonian constitution as an ethnic community.
