The Bulgarians drink an average of 4.3 liters of wine per year. In 2017 over 138 million liters of wine was produced by 210 companies. However, exports of white and red wine in the recent years fell from the record-high quantity of 232 million liters in 2008 to just over 100 million liters in 2017. Russia, Poland and Great Britain are the biggest importers of Bulgarian wine. Meanwhile, imports increased from 29 million liters in 2008 to over 45 million liters in 2017.
