In connection with the spread of the new coronavirus COVID-19 in Italy, and more specifically in Northern Italy, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry advises Bulgarian citizens residing or travelling to Italy to make only essential journeys to the regions with coronavirus cases.

The Foreign Ministry advises against attending public events or large gatherings of people, and advises Bulgarian nationals to observe the safety measures set down by the local authorities.

In view of the current epidemic in China, the ministry raises the risk index of travelling to China to the highest level 5, meaning cessation of all travel and immediate departure from the country.
