In 2019 the consumption of bread and pastries per capita in Bulgaria decreased with 2.9% as compared to 2018. Consumption of fruit increased by 2.4 kilograms per person, consumption of vegetables increased with 2 kilograms per capita, consumption of meat increased with 1.4 kilograms and consumption of non-alcoholic beverages increased by 3.9 liters. The average annual consumption of alcoholic beverages per capita increased from 31 to 32.6 liters and consumption of cigarettes per capita increased from 674 to 733 pieces.
