Sofia wakes up to filthy air

Once again the air in Sofia is filthy this morning, placing Bulgaria’s capital city inside the “red corridor”, according to data of the website airsofia.

The air quality index today places Sofia in 13th position in the world in air pollution levels. The European Commission has already referred Bulgaria to the Court of Justice of the EU over failure to fulfil its obligations concerning poor air quality under European legislation, and for constantly exceeding particulate matter limit values.
