Borislav Kolev ready to talk about Hemus motorway affair (update)

Borislav Kolev, who has been charged with money laundering from the construction of Hemus motorway, has requested a meeting with the minister of the interior and the prosecutor general to disclose important information pertaining to the investigation.

The only person charged over Hemus highway faints in court

His request was conveyed by his brother, Ivo Kolev, who talked to reporters minutes before the Sofia Appellate Court substituted Borislav Kolev’s house arrest for permanent custody.

“I do not think that anyone here thinks that my brother is the final recipient of 53 million Leva. Talking about this kind of sum, of money on such a scale, you can imagine who the people involved are, what kind of interests and influence are at play,” Ivo Kolev said.

The controversy over whether Borislav Kolev wants to disclose information about the misappropriation of tens of millions from the construction of Hemus motorway triggered a bitter clash between the prosecutor’s office and the Ministry of Interior

Later today Minister of the Interior Boyko Rashkov talked to Borislav Kolev. “I am not surprised by what I heard, developments could be expected in the investigation, and the truth could be reached more quickly,” Minister Rashkov commented, adding that names had been named.
Meanwhile Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev announced he was ready to attend the interrogation of the defendant which is to take place at the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office.
