The first baby born in 2023 in Bulgaria is a boy and weighs 3430 grams. He was born in Plovdiv exactly at 00:01 and was named Yoan. Seconds after him, another boy was also born in Sofia, weighing 3300 grams and the happy parents haven't decided yet how the newborn will be named. Three babies were born on New Year's Eve in "Maichin Dom" Hospital in Sofia and all three of them are boys.

According to Bulgarian folk beliefs, when the first child born in the new year is a boy, the year will be peaceful and healthy.
