''We hope that the Republic of North Macedonia will amend its constitution", EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos told the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs. Marta Kos referred to Serbia, with which Cluster 3 on Competitiveness and Inclusive Growth was not opened in December because the country had not fulfilled the necessary commitments. "The same applies to North Macedonia", Marta Kos said with regard to Skopje's commitments, BNR's correspondent in Brussels Angelina Piskova reported.

The Republic of North Macedonia has committed to include the Bulgarians as a state-building people in the preamble of its constitution in order for Bulgaria to lift its veto on EU accession negotiations. However, the country's new Prime Minister, Hristijan Mickoski, refuses to do so.
