There is no danger to the ecosystem after the oil spill near Varna

The sea waves have pushed the oil ashore, which was released by a ship in the waters near Varna on the morning of March 31. The pollution was localized between two jetties, and the oil has been successfully collected. In an interview with BNT, Yavor Dimitrov, Director of the Black Sea Basin Directorate-Varna, announced that the clean-up had been carried out and there is no longer a danger to the ecosystem.

The Executive Agency ''Maritime Administration'' has already inspected 9 vessels, none of which are Bulgarian. There is no evidence that any of them caused the spill. Sampling and investigation will continue in the coming days.
